If your parents or relatives are traveling  abroad, especially to US and Canada then Travel Insurance is not available easily for Senior Citizens above the age of 70. Most the service providers like Tata AIG, Bajaj Allianz and Reliance do not give options for travel insurance for those aged above 70 on their websites. Some of them claim to give insurance but do not provide all details on their websites. You have to call them to find their rates, viz. Future Generali, Thomas Cook. Companies like ICICI Lombard give options for those ages but their charges for anybody say aged 75+ traveling to US are exorbitant, i.e. somewhere in the range of Rs. 30,000. Future Generali offers better rates but if you want insurance above $10,000 then you have to go through medical tests at your own cost. Government insurance companies like National Insurance offer perhaps the cheapest rates amongst the conventional Indian insurance companies.

US based Portals offer Cheaper option with same coverage

There are US based portals which offer Travel Insurance to travelers at a much cheaper rate than Indian companies, especially for Senior citizens above the age of 70. Have a look at this: http://www.VisitorsCoverage.com
The website is an agent (Maxn Insurance Services & Seven Corners, Inc.) who gets insurance done from primary insurers like Lloyds. They are cheaper than most of the Indian insurers and Indian credit cards work on this portal.

Below is a COMPARISON for some of the companies for a 75+ aged person traveling to US for 90 days.
