How to Save a large Torrent download in multiple directories

If a movie or video you are downloading using Torrent method with uTorrent tool is very large you might want to save it in different directories if you do not have enough space in a single partition. You can split the download to different partitions or directories. Here is how to do it:

Skip Files In a Torrent

  • Slip the files which you do not want to download to directories other than the primary directory of download. This can be achieved by skipping those files when you add the Torrent file to uTorrent for the first time.

  • Another alternative to not start the download before you are able to specify directories is to Uncheck "Start torrent" when you add a new torrent in uTorrent.

  • Click to choose the download whose files are to be downloaded in different directories. Go to the Files tab for the torrent in question. This tab is in the lower half of the uTorrent screen. Choose the specific file whose directory you want change from the list of files which are part of the download. Right click and click "Relocate...". Specify the new path for this file and click "Save".

  • In case you have skipped this file's download  its priority would "skip". Right click again and change Priority to "normal" or anything else you prefer. It will start downloading in the new location.
