How to save money on IRCTC when you buy tickets using a Credit Card?

When you purchase train tickets on using your Master or Visa Credit card a transaction charge of about 1.8% is levied in addition to the IRCTC fee of Rs. 10/20 (depending on the class of ticket). This charge does not show up in your ticket but is reflected in your credit card statement. When you click to buy the ticket you are offered a choice of Payment Gateways for credit cards. Most of them charge 1.8% transaction charge which shows up when you choose the gateway. You can save 0.15% of this if you choose the Axis PG (Axis Bank Payment Gateway) as they charge 1.65% transaction charge. This might be a small amount for small tickets but can be substantial for large number of tickets and higher class tickets.

These small savings add up to help you cope with constantly rising inflation.
